Carie Trutanich

With more than two decades of working in the sports & entertainment industry, Carie Trutanich is the Principal and Founder of Gold Standard Sports & Entertainment, LLC (GSSE) –  a boutique sports and talent marketing and management firm she founded in 2008. She is a talent manager for celebrities, sports broadcasters, influencers, athletes, and health and wellness experts. In addition, Carie works as a talent buyer for brands looking to connect with their consumer in a meaningful way through talent collaborations.

Talent Manager on Behalf of Clients

As a talent manager she works on behalf of her clients that include TV personalities, professional athletes, broadcasters, sports icons, health and wellness experts, influencers, and celebrities to forge deals with companies including - adidas, Nike, Puma, Bern, Oakley, Starwood Hotels, People Magazine, Nautilus, Delta Airlines, Foot Locker, Sports Authority, Burton Snowboards, K Swiss, Power Bar, SoyJoy, Quaker Oats, Subway, Joseph Abboud, Ted Baker of London, RehabCare, Xterra, Best Foods, MTV, General Mills, Wrigley Gum, Hewlett Packard and many more.

She has shaped and solidified television production deals for her clients with broadcast giants ABC, CBS, ESPN, Fox Sports, Next VR, Discovery, A&E, Travel Channel, MTV, Time Warner Cable, Pac-12 Network and others.

Talent Buyer on Behalf of Brands

Well-known for her vast rolodex of agents, managers and publicists, Carie's work as a talent buyer has allowed her to successfully match celebrities with corporate engagements and brand integration to help increase the value of the company’s marketing platform through branded campaigns, consumer and social media programs, charitable initiatives, speaking engagements and public appearances.

These opportunities including booking keynote speakers, event hosts, and advertorial and pr campaign spokespeople for companies like Goldman Sachs, American Cancer Society, Disney, ESPN the Magazine, EPT, Hewlett Packard, Levi’s/Dockers, Grain Foods Foundation, HelloFresh, Brio Ice Cream, and many others. 

LIFE before gsse

Prior to starting GSSE, Carie served as Director of Athlete Marketing for Wasserman Media Group, LLC – a world-wide agency owned by legendary sports and entertainment executive Casey Wasserman.   At WMG, her client list included some of the United States’ top soccer players - Landon Donovan, Freddy Adu, Jozy Altidore, Alexi Lalas, Eric Wynalda, Tim Howard, Hope Solo, and others. 

She negotiated endorsements, appearances and licensing contracts between the athletes and companies including: Anheuser Bush, AT&T, Audi, BMW, Cartoon Network, Claritin, Disney Mobile, EA Sports, ESPN, Field Turf, Fuze Beverages, Gatorade, GotMilk?, Heineken, Hilton Hotel Family, The History Channel, J&J, Kraft Foods, MasterCard, Miller Beer, Nexxium, Nintendo, Perry Ellis, Radio Shack, Sony, Topps, Upper Deck and Xbox, among others. 

Carie was also tasked at identifying new business opportunities by consulting with consumer products companies, promotional agencies and global media outlets new to soccer, to position the sport and its athletes as a lucrative marketing vehicle to drive corporate partners’ various brand initiatives. 

She designed and executed athlete awareness programs to generate media opportunities for the Olympic Games (2000, 2004), FIFA World Cups (2002, 2006, 2007) and other high-profile events, creating both national and regional fan bases and sports camp opportunities.

Carie began her career in the Communications and Player Personnel offices of Major League Soccer, where she served as Press Officer for Nike’s Project-40 Program. She also worked closely with the coaching staffs of the MLS teams at the Combine, Super Draft, Spring Training on scouting materials, player and rookie handbooks. She also helped manage communication operations at premier events such as the All-Star Game and MLS Cup.  

She graduated with honors from Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ where she majored in Sports Journalism and was a four-year lacrosse player at the Division III school. 

Carie has since traded in her cleats and stick for sneakers and is an avid runner, having coached inner city kids in the Students Run LA program for the LA Marathon, in which she has run twice, as well as running the NYC Marathon twice. In addition to running, Carie is an avid stand up paddler, snorkeler and love Orange Theory Fitness.

A New Jersey native, Carie and her husband Steve reside in Los Angeles.
